Whether you are an artist, a shopper, a client, interested in learning about tattoo services, or just curious, we aim to offer a space that is alive and enriching. We are committed to maintaining the highest standard of quality for the work we represent. We welcome makers from a diversity of professional backgrounds and experiences to share their work in our space.
Rising Moon Gallery offers artists the most competitive rate of commission at 70% (for the artist) compared to most galleries that operate at approximately 50% (for the artist). We understand the economically precarious nature of a life in the creative sector and do our best to support the continued production of culture in our community by offering a better return for our artists. Our artists and curators are always paid in full for their work and never discounted. Any promotions are fully subsidized by the gallery or donors to ensure that the value of the artist and their work is upheld and that consumers understand the true value of the work.
RMG currently features the work of 8 local artists providing inspired artworks in a variety of mediums including textiles and fiber art, pottery and ceramic sculpture, charcoal drawing & art prints, jewellery, clothing, baskets, woodwork, handmade cards, and hand-crafted soaps, as well as on-site custom tattoo work by Chris Winterson. Each of our artists is working in relationship with the land in some capacity either through their materials and processes, their subject matter, or their cultural heritage. Each artist has a fascinating story to tell about our place here on earth and the deep traditions in craft that brought us here.
RMG offers a rare shopping experience where you can learn about the artists, and their process and intentions. You will be able to find truly one-of-a-kind items whose sale supports local makers, small businesses, and fundraising (particularly for The Foodbank of Waterloo Region).
We offer gift packaging in store and can arrange purchases through this website (see the “our collection” tab for products and the “purchasing” tab for steps to purchase). We can ship to you almost anywhere on earth and offer local delivery for a small fee.
